   Kurt Anthony, son of Leonard and Mary Grote Sailer, was born April 13, 1967, in Carroll, Iowa.  He grew up on the family farm east of Manning and attended school in Manning, graduating with the Manning High School Class of 1985. Kurt then worked for Hamilton Ready Mix in Jefferson before going out on his own as an owner and operator in the trucking business. He then worked with Carpenter Erosion Control before joining Venteicher Erosion Control.

   On June 28, 2008 Kurt was united in marriage with Kim R. Henderson in Dallas Center. They made their home in Grimes. Kurt was a hard worker. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, cooking, watching football and basketball, listening to country music, and spending time with his family and friends.

   Kurt suffered a stroke in 2013 and due to complications died at his home in Grimes, IA on Tuesday, May 23, 2017.  He was 50 years of age.

   Kurt was preceded in death by his brother Kreg Sailer in 2001, grandparents Frank and Anna Sailer and Herman and Colette Grote; his parents-in-law Harold and Lucille Henderson and a sister-in-law Peggy Henderson.

   He is survived by his wife Kim Sailer of Grimes; his parents Leonard and Mary Sailer of Manning; sisters: Kim and husband Scott Barnard of Manning; Kris and husband Dave Weitl of Pine, CO; Karla and husband Mike Hamann of Calhoun, GA; a brother Kevin Sailer and girlfriend JoDee Kessler  of Templeton; a sister-in-law Jill Sailer of West Des Moines; ten nieces and nephews: Tyler (Krystal) Barnard, Noah Barnard, Haylee (Elliott) Barsby and Hannah Barnard and fiancé Matt Scheuring; Zachary (Agata) Weitl and Samantha (Kevin) Geist; Charlie (Chelsea) Hamann, Melanie (Adam) Pruett, Sydney and Ryann Hamann; one great-niece; two great nephews; Kim’s family: a sister-in-law Becky (Wes) Groff of Des Moines; a brother-in-law Ken (Peg) Henderson of Spirit Lake; a nephew and niece Cole and Shauna Groff of Des Moines; and by other relatives and friends.
