Kathleen Wesley, daughter of Joe and Hatti (Zieger) Beatty, was born May 25, 1924 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended school in Indiana and eventually worked for Lane Bryant for many years. During this time she acquired her real estate license. During the years that she was growing up, her father brought Kathleen and her sister Betty back to his home area near Coon Rapids, Iowa. They spent many summers with their aunts Christina and Ethel and even attended school in Coon Rapids at times. Betty and Kathleen cherished these times in Iowa. In 1955, Kathleen was united in marriage with Darrell Hess. They were the parents of one daughter. Later in life she moved to Coon Rapids, Iowa to be near her sister. When her health began to fail in 2007, she became a resident of the Friendship Home in Audubon. The Friendship Home became a haven - family - and truly a sanctuary for Kathleen. God blessed her with the love and compassion of her caregivers. She enjoyed watching television; the music therapy offered her and the puppies that came to visit. She experienced peace in the final days before her death on December 2, 2010 at the age of 86 years and 7 months. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; daughter Mary Kay; brother-in-law Henry Pederson and aunts Christina Beatty, Ethel Beatty and Marjorie Teter. At the time of her death, she was survived by her sister Betty Pederson and her family' at the Friendship Home in Audubon and other distant relatives.
