Visitation

After 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2007 at Ohde Twit Funeral Home in Carroll with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters of America Court Sacred Heart #454 of Templeton, Iowa and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church Saturday at 9:00 for visitation prior to the Funeral mass.

   Justine, daughter of Henry J. Beckman and Anna Schalk, was born March 14, 1921 Raeville, Nebraska.   She attended school in the Elgin, Nebraska area.                 

   One June 5, 1941 she married Lawrence Behrens at St. Boniface Church in Elgin, Nebraska.  She had been married for 66 years at the time of her death.  Together with her husband Lawrence they farmed in the Roselle, Iowa area for 54 years before retiring and moving to Carroll in 1994.       

   Justine was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and Quilters Group, Catholic Daughters of America, Court Sacred Heart #454 of Templeton, Iowa for over 50 years.  She was a former member of the Halbur, Templeton and Roselle School Board, and the Holy Angels Altar Society.  She was a homemaker to her family and loved sewing, quilting, gardening her flowers, baking, doing genealogy research and scrapbooking.  Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and family members.   

   Justine is preceded in death by her parents, a son Ervin Behrens, brothers Lawrence, Robert, Donald and Duane Beckman, a sister-in-law Sally Beckman.            

   Justine is survived by her husband Lawrence of Carroll; children: Carlene Murrane and husband Matt of Scranton, Iowa, Leon Behrens and wife Diane of Omaha, Nebraska, Myra Steinkamp and husband Orlin of Wall Lake, Iowa, Norm Behrens and wife Diane of Wall Lake, Iowa, Sheila Hahn and husband Gerald of Carroll, Mark Behrens and wife Kathy of Carroll: 23 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; former daughter-in-law: Esta Raasch and husband Dean of Carroll: sister-in-law: Patricia Beckman of Sugar Land, Texas..
