Justina C. Langel

Justine Clementine, daughter of Clem and Anna (Fangman) Langel, was born May 20, 1917 on a farm one mile south of Templeton, Iowa. She attended rural school near her home and helped at home on the farm. In 1954 after the death of her mother, Justina (as her name was pronounced in German and she preferred) moved to Carroll where she worked at St. Anthony Hospital 12 ½ years and Carroll Manor Nursing Home 9 ½ years. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish where she was a member of the Guild, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Legion of Mary and Holy Spirit Choir. She was an active member of the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and RSVP Volunteers. Justina was an avid card player, enjoyed Bingo and traveling. She loved tending flowers in her home and yard. Entertaining her friends and family in her home gave her great pleasure. Justina lived in her own home in Carroll until 2008 and then moved to a Westwood Knolls apartment. When she was no longer able to live on her own, she became a resident of the Carroll Health Center in 2009. She died there on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the age of 95 years, 9 months and 21 days. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Henry, Adolf, Joseph, Edward, Vincent, Simon and Ted Langel and sisters Clara Bauer, Mayme Bauer, Regina Schlichte, Anna Dopheide, Beatrice Langel, Hildegard Rupiper and Kathryn Dopheide. Justina is survived by her sister Margaret Murray of Templeton; sisters in law Viola Langel and Bonnie Langel both of Carroll; special guardians Tom and Cindy Langel of Carroll and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
