Joseph Charles Kroeger, son of Joseph Anton and Josephine Mary (Wiese) Kroeger was born on May 27, 1933 at Carroll, Iowa. The family lived on a farm near Templeton and Joe attended country school and Sacred Heart School in Templeton. In 1941, his father died and the family moved to Carroll. There Joe attended Sts. Peter and Paul School and graduated from Carroll High School in 1951. Joe then began working in construction in Carroll. In 1956 he began serving in the United States Army where he served until his honorable discharge in 1958. He then served in the Army Reserves and worked as an electrician for Ray Berndt in Carroll. Joe later worked for J & J Electric in Carroll until his retirement in 1995. Joe was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball, classical music and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Joe lived most of his entire life at his home on Maple Street in Carroll. He remained there until he was admitted to St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll on October 24, 2009. He died there well fortified with the last sacraments on October 25th at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father George Hobbs and a nephew. Joe is survived by his sister Judy and husband Harold McKercher of Blair, NE; brother Arnold Kroeger and wife Sharon of Brandon, FL; Aunt Florine Lilly of Fonda, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
