John Lynn, son of John Frank and Linda Mae (Thelen) Hoffmann, was born at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, on December 14, 1955. He was baptized at St. Anns Catholic Church in Vail. John attended St. Josephs and St. Lawrence schools in Carroll, and he graduated from Carroll High School in 1975.
In the late 1970s, John was united in marriage with Renee Schiltz and four children were born to this union. Johns family agrees that he was a jack of all trades and master of none.? He worked at many jobs in construction and loved to work on cars. John worked most recently at Carroll Auto Salvage. John was united in marriage with Donna (Rudolph) Maxson on February 7, 2004.
John was a member of Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. He was very attentive to his mother, took care of his brothers over the years and made it clear that his children and grandchildren were very important to him. John enjoyed playing cards and dice and going to the Stockcar and Figure 8 races. He also loved to dance, and he met Donna for the first time at a New Years Eve dance in Coon Rapids.
On October 5, 2007, John was injured in a work-related accident. He died as a result of his injuries on November 11, 2007, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was 51 years, 10 months and 28 days old.
