Joan Ellison

Joan Ellison, age 82, of Bayard, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020, at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids. Private family services will be held at Ohde Funeral Home in Bayard.

Joan Iola, daughter of John and Vergie (Trent) Habben, was born June 19, 1938, at La Harpe, Illinois. She was raised and attended school in Keokuk. Joan later earned her GED.

Joan was married to Charles Ellison, and they later divorced in 1993.

She held many jobs throughout her life, including childcare in her later years and volunteering with the Foster Grandparent Program. She loved bargain hunting at the resale shop, small figurines of anything, jigsaw puzzles, flowers, and babies.

On Friday, July 3, 2020, Joan passed away at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, Iowa. She was 82 years and 14 days of age.

Joan is survived by three children: Dona Tuel (Jim) of Bayard; Randy Ellison (Kelly) of Donnellson; and Donnie Ellison (Teri) of Washington, Iowa; five grandchildren: Emily Halstead (Taylor), Justin Tuel (Jacey), Joshua Tuel (Ellen), Michelle Martin (Tyler) and Nich Ellison (Nicole); a sister Hedy Sturgeon of Keokuk; a brother Ronald Oehmigen of New York; and her Greatest Achievements, her Great-Grandbabies, Sawyer, Millie, Zoey, Walker, Brooks and William, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Vergie and John Oehmigen, her father John Habben; a sister Linda Lowrey; and granddaughter Amanda Ellison.
