Jo-Ann N. Knowles

Jo-Ann Nadyne Knowles was born May 5, 1938 to the late Opal (Trucks) and Berthal Teter in Guthrie County, Iowa.

On June 12, 1968 Jo-Ann was united in marriage to George Eugene Knowles in Canton, South Dakota. They made their home in Virginia Beach, Virginia where they raised her four children.

Jo-Ann worked within the hospitality industry and co-owned a commercial cleaning business with her husband George. She treasured and loved family most. She had a soft spot for cats often rescuing them and raising Manx cats. She enjoyed music, especially country music and was always up for two-stepping. She was a country girl at heart.

Jo-Ann passed away on August 1, 2021 in Iowa City, attaining the age of eighty-three years, two months and twenty-seven days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: George Knowles; sons: Jeffery Hanson, Bruce Hanson and Lee Hanson; sisters: Darlene Wilson (Darrell), Donna Byland (Carl) and Pat Nielson (Elmer); brothers: Morris Teter, Eugene Teter, DeWayne Teter and Kenneth Teter.

Left to cherish her memory, her daughter: Lesa Hanson of Kenbridge, Virginia; sister: Sharon Chrissy of Ottumwa, Iowa; brother: Richard Teter (Faby) of Arroyo Hondo, New Mexico; sisters-in-law: Rose Teter of Ogden, Iowa and Gladys Teter of Coon Rapids, Iowa. She is additionally survived by grandchildren: Nancy Green of Virginia, Jason Franklin of Virginia, Terry Joe Hanson, Michael Hanson, Curtis Hanson, Tony Hanson, Joe Hanson, Renee Hanson and Jake Hanson all of Iowa; numerous great grandchildren; 1 great - great grandchild; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Private Family Interment is in the Orange Township Cemetery in Coon Rapids, Iowa.
