Jerlyn Wiese Fox

July 27, 1967 — June 19, 2017

Jerlyn Elaine, daughter of Dewey and Jerene (Huffaker) Wiese, was born July 27, 1967 in Manilla, Iowa.  She grew up in Manilla, graduating from Manilla High School in 1986. After graduation she started working for Dubuque Packing Plant in Denison, then moved to Norfolk, NE when the plant operations moved there.

On June 24, 1989 Jerlyn was united in marriage with Ricky Daniel Fox at the home of her parents in Manilla, Iowa. Jerlyn and Rick were the parents of two children. After their second child was born Jerlyn started having health problems and she quit working in 1996 and moved back to Manilla with her mother in 2000. She had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She was able to remain at home with the help of her mother for a couple of years and then became a resident of the Manilla Manor Nursing Home.

Jerlyn was a member of the United Methodist Church in Manilla. She loved being outdoors, camping, horseback riding and motorbiking with her husband. She also enjoyed gambling and was friendly to everyone she met.

Jerlyn’s health continued to decline after moving to the nursing home. She died there on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the age of 49 years and 11 months. The family selflessly allowed the Iowa Donor Network to use her remains to help others in need of transplants.

Preceding her in death are her parents and sister Darla Wiese.

Jerlyn is survived by her husband Rick Fox of Nemaha; daughter Jade E. Barry (Tyler) and son Joshua Fox both of Sioux City; two grandchildren Tegan and Lainey Barry; brother Drew Wiese (Traci) of Norfolk, NE; other relatives and friends.
