Jerene (Jerry), daughter of Eldred and Erma (Marr) Huffaker, was born March 1, 1933, at home in Manilla, Iowa. The family lived in Manilla, where she graduated from Manilla High School and was on the basketball team and majorette of the band. Jerry was united in marriage with Dewey Wiese on August 29, 1951, at the United Methodist Church in Manilla. Three children were born to this union and Jerry was a busy homemaker and mother. She worked as a cook at the Manilla Community Schools and later in activity services at the Manilla Manor Nursing Home. After her retirement in 2000, Jerry took in and raised two of her grandchildren. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and was very talented with crafts. Jerry liked to visit the casinos with her friends and play bingo and Euker as well. She will be remembered as a strong and determined woman by those who knew her best. Jerry was a cancer survivor and also fought heart disease through the years. Her death on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center was sudden and unexpected. She was 79 years, 2 months and 3 weeks of age. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Dewey Wiese in 1995; and daughter Darla Wiese in 1996. Jerry is survived by her son Drew Wiese and wife Traci of Norfolk, NE; daughter Jerlyn Fox of Manilla; son-in-law Rick Fox of Dow City; grandchildren: Dustin Wiese of Cedar City, UT; Jade Fox and fiancé Tyler Barry of Sioux City; Joshua Fox of Manilla; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
