Jack Rogers

November 11, 1933 — April 18, 2014

Jack Thomas, son of Fay L. and Merytel M. (White) Rogers was born November 11, 1933 at Purcell, OK. When he was two years old, the family moved to California and he attended El Monte High School, graduating in 1952. In 1960 Jack was united in marriage with Sandra Savage at Baldwin Park, and two daughters were born to this union. Jack married Kae Rene Farley in 1981 at Rowland Heights. On May 8, 1953, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He served at Ft. Ord, Ft. Lewis, WA, and in Europe with a Military Police company. Jack reached the rank of Private First Class before his discharge in April of 1955. Jack worked as a forklift and warehouse man for Avon Products in Pasadena for 27 years. He took a medical retirement at age 55 due to heart bypass surgery. Jack and Kae moved to her hometown of Manning, IA, in 2008. Jack was a member of the United Methodist Church, the American Legion and V.F.W. in Manning. In his spare time he enjoyed baseball and other sports and working on his lawn. Jack was a lifetime L.A. Angels and Boston Celtics fan. He could be found at Deb's Corner Café most mornings having coffee with his buddies. For many years Jack suffered from heart and other health issues. On Friday afternoon, April 18, 2014, Jack died at home in Manning doing what he loved to do - working on his lawn. He was 80 years, 5 months and 1 week of age.
