Irene Emaline, daughter of Glen A and Rosa L (Paa) Warn, was born August 18, 1918 in Tracy, MN. She attended Tracy schools, where she graduated in 1936 before completing junior college. Irene then worked in the office of Swift & Company of South St. Paul, MN.
On June 16, 1941 Irene was united in marriage with William H. Meyer at St. Mary’s Church in Tracy. After her husband’s honorable discharge from the United States Army, they moved to Washington, IA and then to Carroll, IA where they made their home and raised their four children. The family was a member of St. Joseph Parish and later Holy Spirit Parish. As a woman of faith, Irene was a member of the Legion of Mary and volunteered at Holy Spirit schools, her church and New Hope Village over the years. In her youth, she was a member of the choir, enjoyed playing her violin and dancing ballet. Irene was a homemaker and took pride in her family. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and enjoyed picnicking with family and friends at Swan Lake. The death of her daughter Muriel Rose in 1971 was a devastating event in her life. After the death of her husband in 1994 she lived a healthy and independent life in their home until she suffered a fall at home in early 2010. She then moved to Regency Park of Carroll.
After failing health this year, Irene died at Regency Park in Carroll on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the age of 97 years, 11 months and 27 days. Preceding her in death are her husband; daughter; and three brothers Clarence Warn (Blanche), Burt Warn and Roy Warn.
