Hiltrude M. Riesberg

Hiltrude Margaret, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Berger) Bruening, was born May 17, 1916 near Arcadia, Iowa. After graduating from St. John's Parochial School in Arcadia, she assisted her family on their farm east of Arcadia. On June 16, 1936 Hiltrude was united in marriage with Clarence Riesberg at St. John's Church in Arcadia with Rev. Mathias Stork officiating. She and Clarence farmed south of Arcadia for over 50 years and were well known in the area. She efficiently and lovingly ran the couple's home where they raised their five children. She was also a gracious hostess, skilled homemaker and gifted baker of breads, cakes, pies and cookies for her family and friends. In her early years she loved dancing, playing cards, gardening, sewing and traveling. Above all she loved visiting with her family and friends. Hiltrude became a resident of the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in October of 2006 where she was lovingly cared for by their wonderful staff and Marge Gerken, her friend and roommate. She died there on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the age of 95 years, 11 months and 22 days. Hiltrude was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence in 1987; son-in-law Norman Bushman; grandson Darrin Riesberg; brothers: Leonard Bruening and wife Louise and Wayne Bruening in infancy; sisters: Irene Bruening and Marcella Snyder and husband Adrian; brothers-in-law: Walter Riesberg and wife Martha; Andrew Riesberg and wife Hilda; Lester Riesberg; Paul Ferneding; Maurice Glass and Rev. Leo Riesberg; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Willenborg and husband Bernard and Helen Schweers and husband Vincent. Hiltrude is survived by her five children: LeRoy Riesberg of Omaha, NE; LaVonne Vonnahme and husband Lee of Westside; Arlene Bushman of Wichita, KS; Diane Bierl and husband LeRoy of Crandall, TX; Robert Riesberg and wife Donna of Roselle; daughter-in-law Marcella "Mickey" Riesberg of Omaha, NE; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson on the way; brother in law Anthony Riesberg and wife Rose of Carroll; sisters-in-law Lillian Ferneding of Carroll, Irma Grote and husband Paul of Carroll and Angela Riesberg of Papillion, NE; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
