    Herman, son of Bernard and Anna (Macke) Schwabe was born December 22, 1917 in Mt. Carmel, Iowa. Herman died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa at the age of 90. He received his education at St. Francis School in Maple River, Iowa.    Herman was a lifetime farmer in the Maple River area. He raised cattle, hogs and chickens.  He was a member of St. Francis Parish in Maple River. He was very proud of his John Deere farm equipment, had a love of cats and Oreo cookies, enjoyed feeding birds and watching his tulips and petunias blossom.    Herman was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Ben, Henry, Joe and John Schwabe; sisters: Ann Beckman, Catherine Schwabe and Margaret Kokenge.    Herman is survived by his brother Alois Schwabe of Maple River, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and a very special friend Deb Steinbach.
