Helen Louise, daughter of Edward John and Ella (Hoeft) Schwaderer, was born on August 26, 1919 in Carroll, Iowa. She grew up in Rockwell City where she graduated from high school. She then completed her nursing training at St Joseph Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Dodge in 1940. Helen served as a nurse in the United States Navy during World War II, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Jg. She spent many years working for the United States Army and United States Coast Guard at Two Rock Ranch Station, California. Helen was united in marriage with Jack Acorne in 1944. They were the parents of one son Michael. After spending the majority of her life in Petaluma, California she returned to Carroll, Iowa. When her health began to fail, Helen moved to the Swan House in Carroll where she died on Thursday morning, June 7, 2012 at the age of 92 years. She is survived by her son Michael (Harriette) Acorne of Petaluma, CA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Acorne, brother Harold Schwaderer and sister Nadine Gregg. Services for Helen will be held in Petaluma, CA with burial of cremated remains in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Petaluma. The family would like to thank and friends and caregivers who helped Helen over the years.
