Hazel Robinson

Hazel P. Robinson, daughter of Ever and Jennie (Perkins) Rosenbladt, was born November 9, 1909, on the family farm south of Bayard, Iowa. She attended country school near her home and graduated from Bayard High School in 1926. She then received Normal training and taught country school.       On August 15, 1929, Hazel was united in marriage with Arthur M. Robinson in Iowa. A daughter Marjorie was born to this union. The family made their home near Bayard. When Art entered the Army in 1944, Hazel took over his school bus route until his return in March of 1946. Hazel later became Librarian in Bayard for many years. She was also employed by the State of Iowa Library Association and worked part time at the Jefferson Library and other libraries in the district, retiring in 1979.    Hazel was a member of the Bayard United Methodist Church and was a 60-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed going fishing in the northwoods of Minnesota and reading and crocheting until her eyesight failed. In 1985, she sold her house in Bayard and moved to Omaha to live with Marjorie. While in Omaha, Hazel loved to go to the horse races at Ak-Sar-Ben during the summer.   Hazel died February 6, 2006 in Omaha, Nebraska. She was 96 years, 2 months and 1 day of age.   Besides her parents and husband, Hazel was preceded in death by a brother Fred Rosenbladt and wife Olive; a sister Helen and husband Harold Strauser; a nephew Dick Rosenbladt and wife Mary and their daughter Cindy.   Hazel is survived by her daughter Marjorie Robinson of Omaha, Nebraska; nephews: Donald Strauser and wife Jackie of Melrose, FL; Bill Strauser and wife Helen of Escondita, CA; Nieces Janet Rosenbladt of Owatonna, MN, and Zoe and husband Mike Seidenkranz of Russell; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
