Glenn James Huffman

Glenn died Sunday morning at the Manilla Manor Nursing Home. His cremated remains will be buried November 4, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

   Glenn James Huffman, son of Jim and Josephine (Newell) Huffman, was born July 14, 1915, in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa. He attended school in the nearby community of Gray, Iowa and graduated from Gray High School. He then started farming in Lincoln Township.

   In 1935, Glenn was united in marriage with Ethel Anderson at the Methodist Parsonage in Gray. They continued to live in Lincoln Township and were the parents of one daughter. Glenn retired from farming in the early 1970s and lived in Manning off and on until he settled permanently in Manning. Glenn was a member of the Gray Methodist Church. He enjoyed his classic car collecting over the years.

   Glenn was able to remain in his home in Manning until the summer of 2008 when he became a resident of the Manilla Manor Nursing Home in Manilla, where he died on Sunday, July 20, 2008, at the age of 93 years and 6 days.

   Preceding Glenn in death are his parents; four brothers: Frank Huffman; Charlie Huffman; Ray Huffman and one in infancy; and two sisters Lillie Sorensen and Lois Sunberg.

   He is survived by his daughter Joyce and her husband Gerald Young of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren Sherrie Jo Christensen of Phoenix, AZ; Jerry Young and wife Michelle of Phoenix, AZ; and Doug Young of Phoenix, AZ; two great-grandchildren Brandon and Alycia Christensen; nieces, including Josephine Huffman who looked after him in his later years, nephews, other relatives and friends.
