Glenn William, son of William and Nellie (Poleske) Ehlers, was born June 15, 1929 on the farm near Panama, Shelby County, Iowa where he was baptized as a baby. In 1935 the family moved to a farm five miles south of Denison in Crawford County where he attended Mullenger County School. He completed his schooling in Denison, graduating with the Denison High School Class of 1947. Glenn remained on the farm working with his father after graduation. Later he cared for his parents so they could remain in their home on the farm. After his mother’s death in 1991 and his father’s death in 1995, Glenn remained on the farm caring for the crops, cattle and hogs. He did his own farming until several years before his death.
Glenn was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla where he was confirmed. As an adult he served in many capacities at Trinity including congregation vice president, elder and usher as long as his health permitted. He considered his church friends his family.
When Glenn’s health deteriorated he became a patient at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE where he died on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 21 days.
Preceding him in death are his parents.
He is survived by cousins and good friends Eugene and Susan Mahnke of Manning, as well as his church family and coffee buddies at Burger King.Visits: 13
