Gladys Whitcomb

Gladys Irene, daughter of Earl and Maude (McCool) Barrett was born in Bayard, IA, on December 3rd, 1914. She attended and graduated from Bayard High School in 1932. Gladys was united in marriage to Glenn Whitcomb on May 23, 1939. She was a farm wife for most of her life and helped with various duties on the farm. She was a talented cook who always made sure there was food on the table. Gladys was a cook at the Bayard Care Center. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Bayard. Gladys lived in Bayard her whole life until May of 2010 when she moved to Regency Assisted Living in Norwalk, IA. She later transferred to Regency Care Center where she died on November 4, 2013 at the age of 98 years, 11 months and 1 day. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Glenn; sisters Alice(Howard) Smith; Myrtle (Bill) McKibben; brothers Willard Barrett; Winfred (Grace) Barrett; and nephew Bill McKibben. Gladys is survived by nephew Barry (JoAnn) McKibben of Cumming, IA; niece Shirley McKibben of Des Moines, IA; several great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews, great great great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
