   Gavin Archie, son of Scott and Theresa (Chapman) Stone, was born November 17, 1988, at St. Louis, Missouri. Shortly thereafter, Gavin and his family moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where he was baptized on Easter Sunday of 1989. In 1993, the family moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where Gavin attended Hillis Elementary School. In 1997, they made their home in Ames and Gavin attended Meeker and Fellows Elementary Schools and Ames Middle School. Since 2003, Gavin attended Kasson-Mantorville High School at Kasson, Minnesota, and completed the eleventh grade. He was looking forward to high school graduation and was excited about attending college.    Gavin was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Kasson where he was confirmed in October of 2004. As a peer minister and member of St. Johns youth group, he enjoyed serving on mission trips to New York and San Diego. As a youngster, Gavin was a member of Cub Scouts, participated in sports and bicycled with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting with his Uncle Kent, traveling, movies (particularly Star Wars and Lord of the Rings) and playing X-Box and other video games over the internet with his friends. Most recently, Gavin had become an accomplished guitar player, and enjoyed listening to and playing classic rock and roll music. Gavin was intelligent, kindhearted, mischievous, and had a great sense of humor.    On Tuesday, August 15, 2006, Gavin died in a drowning accident at Prairie Rose State Park near Harlan, Iowa. He was 17 years, 8 months and 29 days of age.    Gavin was preceded in death by his great-grandfather Carl Rostermundt; two great uncles Dick Miller and Kenny Norris; and a great aunt Nina Happel.    He is survived by his parents Scott and Theresa Stone of Kasson, MN; a sister Justine Stone of Kasson, MN; grandparents: Daryl and Carol Chapman of Manilla and Archie and Ruth Stone of West Des Moines; great-grandmother Inez Rostermundt of Manilla; several aunts and uncles: Jane and Dale Bandow of Manilla; Robert and Debra Chapman of Manilla; Marilynn and John Coleman of Omaha, NE; Kurt and Jennifer Chapman of Manilla; Regina and Rudy Ransom of Forsythe, MO; Linda and Lynn Benson of Grimes; Kent and Theresa Chapman of Indianola; Sara and Jackie Wells of Altoona; Jeff and Pam Stone of West Des Moines and Ben and Marilyn Stone of West Des Moines; several cousins, other relatives and many friends.
