Frances Marie Anthofer

Frances Marie, daughter of Elmer and Ann (Prenger) Emery was born on April 4, 1946 in Carroll, Iowa. She grew up in Coon Rapids where she attended Annunciation Catholic School until the eighth grade and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1964. After high school Frances attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux City then returned to Coon Rapids. On April 16, 1966, Frances was united in marriage with Arby Anthofer at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids. They made their home in Coon Rapids and were the parents of 5 children. In addition to caring for her family, Frances worked at her family's business, Ann's Drive-In in Coon Rapids. In 1980 the family moved to a farm near Willey and Frances continued to work at Ann's Drive-In until 1986. She then worked at the Casey's Store in Glidden for 11 years. Frances was employed by H&R Block for 15 years and was an enrolled agent with the IRS. Frances was member of St. Mary's Church and the St. Mary's Ladies Guild. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, who loved to spend time with family. In 2001 Frances was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. She courageously battled the disease for many years. On January 25, 2011 Frances passed away at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll at the age of 64 years, 9 months and 21 days. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, sisters-in-law: Etta Emery and Alberta Stevens and brother-in-law Alvin Anthofer. She is survived by her husband Arby Anthofer of Willey; children: Chris Anthofer and wife Pam of Glidden; Carol and husband Jeff Yenger of Albia; Cheryl and husband Jody Brincks of Carroll; Craig Anthofer and wife Jenna of Minneapolis, MN and Cathy and husband Zac Andersen of Lake City; 7 grandchildren; siblings: Bryan Emery and wife Joanne of Johnston; Barb and husband Phil Weibler of Chicago, IL; Mary and husband Pat Thornton of Omaha, NE; Cindy Emery and husband Harry Clark of St. Charles and Laura and husband Jeff Hachmeister of Coon Rapids, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law; other relatives and friends.
