Evelyn Marie, daughter of Marshall and Minnie (Christensen) Davis, was born February 4, 1923, at Kirkman, Iowa. Evelyn attended country schools and graduated from Harlan High School. Following graduation, she worked at Hurley Law Office.
On December 24, 1942, Evelyn was united in marriage with Ross Cadwell at Papillion, NE. Three daughters were born to this union. They lived southeast of Manilla until 1948 when they began farming near Buck Grove. In 1966 Evelyn and Ross purchased a farm west of Manilla where they lived until 1994 when they retired and moved to Denison.
With many years of hard work behind them, they enjoyed their retirement by traveling and having coffee with friends. Evelyn was a member of the United Church of Manilla. Evelyn was very creative and spent countless hours sewing, crocheting and painting, but she loved spending time with her family, most of all.
After Ross passed away in 2004, Evelyn moved to Spencer and in 2014 became a resident of St. Luke Lutheran Home where she was lovingly cared for until her death on February 16, 2018.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ross; and two sisters Ermal (Harold) Joens and Gladys (Marvin) Linde; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Rae Cadwell, Robert Cadwell, Edie (LeRoy) Weible, Hal (Helen) Cadwell, Vyrl (Edith) Cadwell, Letha (Paul) Abel, and Darlene Cadwell.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters: Anne Stevens of Stuart, Iowa; Rosemary (Craig) Steinbeck of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and Nancy (Chris) Stickler of Spencer, Iowa; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Evelyn will be affectionately remembered for her infectious wit and genuine enjoyment for life.
