Eva Accola

October 1, 1927 — November 11, 2013

Eva Blanche, daughter of David C. and Grace E. (Lamb) Ritchie, was born October 1, 1927 at home on the farm near Wichita in Guthrie County, Iowa. She grew up on the farm and attended rural school until the family moved into Coon Rapids. She graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1946. After completing her schooling, Eva remained in Coon Rapids and worked at Archor-Windfeldt grocery store and the D & D Café. She then owned and operated The Corner Café. On January 5, 1958 Eva was united in marriage with Osmond Wayne "Pepsi" Accola at the Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. She was the mother of five children and worked with her husband at the Southside Lounge for 15 years until her retirement in 1981. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading cookbooks and magazines. Eva was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women's Society. Eva was diagnosed with cancer in September of 2013 and was able to remain at home with the loving care of her children. She died there Monday evening, November 11, 2013 at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 10 days. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Osmond; son Robert; three brothers Frank Ritchie, George Ritchie and Laurence Ritchie; two sisters Edna Palmer and Margarette Ritchie; and sister in law Phyllis Accola. Eva is survived by her children: Clarissa Kelly of Coon Rapids, Eric Accola of LaCrosse, WI, Dana (Julie) Accola of Cambridge and Andrea (Ken) Accola Sabin of Swea City; three grandchildren Aaron and Logan Kelly and Erica (Aaron) Accola Lantz; two sisters Jennie Whitten of Carroll and Dorothy Blanchard of Coon Rapids; brother in law Howard Accola of Coon Rapids; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids, Iowa.
