Eunice Mae, daughter of Benjamin and Myrtle Knight Hartwigsen, was born April 27, 1925, at home southeast of Glidden, Iowa. She attended country school near her home and graduated from Glidden High School in 1943. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and started teaching country school in the Glidden and Coon Rapids area.
On January 11, 1945, Eunice was united in marriage with Harold Herbert Bonney at the Presbyterian parsonage in Des Moines. Six children were born to this union. They lived on various farms near Glidden. Eunice worked at the egg plant in Glidden and at Franklin Manufacturing in Jefferson until her retirement. The family moved to Coon Rapids in 1983. After Harold died on April 17, 1999, Eunice was able to remain in their home until becoming a resident of the Carroll Manor in January of 2002. Eunice died there on November 10, 2008 at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 14 days.
Eunice was a member of Pleasant Ridge Community Church near Glidden and was a member of her labor union in Jefferson. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, playing piano, solving crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Dick Behner, brother Roy Hartwigsen and wife Evelyn, and brothers-in-law John, Theodore, and Richard Bonney.
She is survived by six children: Marilyn and husband Steve Sporleder of Lidderdale, Diane Kraus of Lidderdale, Donna and husband Fred Sigler of Coon Rapids, Jane Behner of Tucson, AZ, Dennis Bonney and wife Tamara of Coon Rapids and Mark Bonney and wife Jodi of Bayard; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; sister Fern and husband Daryl Betts of Bayard; brother-in-law Cleo Bonney and wife LaVonna of Omaha, NE; sisters-in-law Mary Bonney of Coon Rapids and Delores Bonney of Aurora, CO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
