Eufemia, daughter of Temotio Casuga and Eulogia (Ducusin) Casuga, was born December 27, 1926, in Camansi, San Fernando La Union, Philippines. She attended school there through the twelfth grade. On March 24, 1947, she was united in marriage with Delfin Munar, Sr. Eight children were born to this union. Eufemia was a homemaker and she and her husband lived and worked on a rice, vegetable and fruit farm. They were wonderful, caring parents seeing to higher education for all of their children.
Eufemia was a very religious woman and belonged to the St. William Parish of the Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning, Iowa, USA. She loved to garden and cook and in her later years enjoyed watching television. After the death of her husband on May 23, 1986, Eufemia remained in their home until 1992 when she emigrated from the Philippines to the United States where she became a United States citizen on June 11, 2004. She lived with her daughter Miriam in Manning, Iowa.
Eufemia suffered health problems for a number of years before she was admitted to Creighton University Medical Center on February 2, 2007 with heart problems. Her health continued to deteriorate and she died there on Friday, February 23, 2007, at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 27 days.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, three brothers: Pablo, Benjamin and Reynaldo Casuga and sister Corazon Mariano.
She is survived by her eight children: Romeo Munar and his wife Amelia of Camansi, San Fernando La Union, Philippines; Zeny and husband Marlito Aum of Camansi; Dr. Linda and husband Ernesto Cabancla of Urdaneta, Pangasinan, Philippines; Delia and husband Eduardo Ducusin of Camansi; Elsa and husband Edwin Calado of Tanqui, San Fernando La Union, Philippines; Miriam and Odie Sales of Manning, Iowa, USA; Samuel Munar and wife Vilma of Urdaneta; and Delfin Munar, Jr. and wife Bernadette of Camansi; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several half brother and sisters; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
