Emma Lou, daughter of David and Opal (Shue) Riley, was born April 3, 1937, at Buffalo, West Virginia. Emma's parents passed away before she turned 16 years old. She traveled a lot in her younger years. Emma was working in Omaha, Nebraska when she met Robert Lacy Jr. The couple was united in marriage in 1971 at Camdenton, Missouri. They moved to Dedham, Iowa - Robert's hometown. Emma was a dedicated homemaker and mother to daughter Amy, and the couple owned "The Frontier" bar in Dedham for a time. Emma operated "Emma's Consignment" shops in Audubon and Manning for many years. She then worked as a nurse's aide for the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. Following her husband's death in 1996 Emma moved to Manning in 1998. Her retirement in 1999 enabled her to babysit for her granddaughters. Through the years Emma enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, especially for the Plaza residents. She also loved to visit casinos and play cards with family and friends. Emma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She fought cancer for several years. Emma died at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center on Tuesday, August 11, 2015. She was 78 years, 4 months and 8 days of age. Preceding Emma in death are her parents; husband Robert Lacy Jr.; and twin sister Anna Sue, at birth. She is survived by her daughter Amy Dawson (Corey Kennebeck) of Manning and granddaughters Jade and Alexis; brothers John Riley (Charlene) of Pliny, West Virginia, and Gerald Riley of Connecticut; other relatives and friends.
