Elmer Albert, son of Robert and Alwina (Arndt) Lucht, was born October 2, 1912, in Willow Township, Greene County, Iowa.  He attended Willow #4 country school and one year of high school in Coon Rapids.  After school, Elmer went to work on the family farm.

On November 27, 1936, Elmer was united in marriage with Margaret Carstens at Glidden.  Four children were born to this union.  The family lived and farmed in Willow Township, raising livestock and row crops.  Elmer also worked seasonally for Garst & Thomas seed corn company.  Through the years, Elmer and Margaret enjoyed dancing and playing cards with friends.  They retired and moved in to Bayard in 1974.  Margaret died in 1983.

Elmer was united in marriage with Clara Scott, a teacher from Panora, on November 23, 1984.  They spent their retirement traveling, living in Texas during the winter and dancing.  The couple lived in Panora, and whenever they were there they didnt miss a day of breakfast and coffee talk with friends at Carmens Caf.  Clara died just seven months ago in May of 2007.

Elmer was a lifetime and very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church northeast of Coon Rapids.  He was also the secretary for the local chapter of A.A.L. (now Thrivent Financial).

This fall Elmer moved into an assisted-living facility in Bondurant near his daughter Donna.  Following a short illness, Elmer died at the Mitchell Village Care Center in Mitchellville, Iowa, on December 25, 2007, at the age of 95 years, 2 months and 23 days.

Preceding Elmer in death are his parents; wife Margaret; second wife Clara; and siblings Clara Hansen, Velma Deeth, Eddie Lucht, Hilda Gustoff and Roy Lucht.

Elmer is survived by his four children: Donna (Wayne) Mozena of Bondurant; Jerry (Marcie) Lucht of Georgetown, TX; Roger (Jean) Lucht of Lake View, Iowa; Mark (Sarah) Lucht of Brea, CA; 10 grandchildren: John (Lori) Mozena; Jeff (Chris) Mozena; Joel Mozena; James (Rachel) Mozena; Chad (Melody) Lucht; Philip (Julie) Costabile; Matthew Lucht; Danny Lucht; Tracy Lucht (Paul) Soucy; and Katie Lucht; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Deeth, Rosie Hunter, Genice Cook, Lois Montesano, and Faye Carstens; other relatives and friends.
