Ellen S. Richardson died at peace on April 19, 2013, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha with her children at her side. Born June 1, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois, she enjoyed a life rich with blessings and good humor. A longtime resident, she and her husband, Dr. H.K. Richardson, moved to Carroll from Houston, Texas, along with their four children in 1959. Well known for her generosity, she was a bundle of energy who donated her time to numerous endeavors over the years, including volunteer work at the Carroll Community Health Center and the First United Methodist Church. A sixty year member of P.E.O., a women's service organization, she served twice as president. She seldom missed helping out at the polls and blood banks, and she never missed sending a friend a well-chosen birthday card, thank you note, or note of condolence. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. H.K. Richardson, grandson Tyler Kahle, and granddaughter Erin Richardson, as well as her parents, O.E. and Alice (Anderson) Barnhart. She is survived by her brother Ray A. (Jackie) Barnhart of St. Clairesville, OH, children Marcia (Noble) Dunson of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Christine (Mark) Caes of Dayton, OH, Dr. J. Scott (Kathy) Richardson of Carroll, Debra (Dennis) Kahle McMillan of Omaha, NE, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
