Elizabeth Frances, daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth (Vanderloo) Welsh, was born August 17, 1918 at Coon Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1936.
On January 5, 1942, Elizabeth was united in marriage with Kenneth Pingrey at Annunciation Church in Coon Rapids. Four daughters were born to this union. During World War II when her husband was serving overseas, Elizabeth went to Omaha, NE, to work in an airplane factory for a time. When Kenneth died in 1958 she enrolled in beauty school in Des Moines. She operated Elizabeths Beauty Shop out of her home, gradually retiring in the 1980s.
Elizabeth was united in marriage with Rex Dutch? Lewis on August 3, 1974 at Annunciation Church in Coon Rapids. The couple enjoyed spending several winters in Arizona. Dutch died in 2003.
Above all, Elizabeth loved spending time (and occasionally shopping) with her daughters The Nurses?. She enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to many clubs over the years. Elizabeth was a long-time member of the Old Maid Sewing Club and was proficient at other needlework as well. She found pleasure in taking drives to watch the wildlife and in refinishing antique furniture. Elizabeth was a lifetime member of Annunciation Parish.
Elizabeth became a resident of the Thomas Rest Haven nursing home in the spring of 2007. After a short stay at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, she died there at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 12 days.
Preceding Elizabeth in death are her parents; husband Kenneth Pingrey; husband Rex Lewis; siblings: Kathleen McLaughlin, Virginia Welsh and Woodrow Welsh.
