Edna Margaret, daughter of Jurgen and Anna (Peters) Hinz, was born January 13, 1911 at Manning, Iowa. She graduated from Manning High School in 1930.

On June 2, 1931 Edna was united in marriage with Kermit Kaspersen at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Two children were born into this union. Edna and Kermit first lived in Westside and then moved to Boone in the 1940s. Edna worked in a grocery store, a retail clothing store in Carroll and J.C. Penny in Boone. While her husband drove a bus for Iowa State University in Ames, Edna worked at the Bourns factory. They retired in 1974 and moved to Arkansas. In 1983 they moved back to Manning, Iowa.
