Dwight Brus, 74, of Denison, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at his home in Denison. Private family services will be held at a later date. Ohde Funeral Home in Manilla is in charge of arrangements.
Dwight Douglas, son of Henry and Margaret (Weller) Brus, was born June 15, 1943, in Denison, Iowa. He grew up on a farm near Denison and attended country school nearby. He continued his schooling at Denison High School, graduating in 1961. He then attended Iowa State University. During his schooling, Dwight served in the Army National Guard.
Dwight was a lifelong farmer, mostly farming with his brothers. He enjoyed doing sudoku puzzles, walking and reading, remembering everything he read. He took great interest in the lives of his nieces and nephews and enjoyed visiting and drinking coffee with his friends.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Jeanette Mott and Joan Santee, and two brothers-in-law Marvin Nobiling and Richard Santee.
He is survived by six siblings: Henry Brus and wife Norma of Council Bluffs; George Brus of Holstein; Jerry Brus and wife Mildred of Denison; Judy Nobiling of Humboldt; John Brus and wife Ann of Denison; and Steve Brus and wife Sandi of Manilla; a brother-in-law Ben Mott of Knoxville; 19 nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
