Douglas Wayne, son of Duane and Marilyn (Petersen) Jensen, was born August 16, 1953 in Audubon County, Iowa. He was raised by his Petersen grandparents near Poplar, Iowa. Doug initially attended rural school near his home and then Elk Horn-Kimballton Schools. After completing his schooling he worked for a dairy by Manilla and then for Elmquist Elevator in Elk Horn. On October 1, 1971 Doug was united in marriage with Linda Miller at Jacksonville. They lived in Kimballton and were the parents of two daughters. Linda was the pride and joy and love of his life. He started a trucking company with his brother - Jensen Brothers and Son. Doug was the dispatcher for the company. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. His passion in his spare time was dirt track car racing. NASCAR collectibles was another strong interest. Doug liked to barbeque for his family and friends and make folks laugh no matter what the occasion. His annual motorcycle trip with his brother was a highlight of the year. He enjoyed fishing and above all loved spending time with his grandchildren. Doug died suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan where he had been transported from his home in Kimballton, where he had fallen ill shortly before. He was 60 years, 9 months and 11 days of age. Preceding him in death are his grandparents; sister Donita Nelsen and granddaughter Jessie Bowlin. Doug is survived by his wife Linda Jensen of Kimballton; two daughters Christiana Bowlin (Brian) of Kimballton and Liz Schmidt (Allan) of Holstein; seven grandchildren; mother Marilyn Gray of Kimballton; brother Don Jensen (Kim) of Galva; two half-sisters Carman Grove (Judd) of Holstein and Julie Gray of Kimballton; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
