Dorothy Ann, daughter of Theodore Albert and Anna Margret (Lamberty) Reiling, was born July 27, 1930 in Carroll, Iowa. She lived with her parents in Mt. Carmel until the age of three years, when the family moved four miles west of Carroll. She attended Maple River schools. After completing her education, Dorothy worked at Ocoma Foods and St. Anthony Hospital. On April 13, 1950, Dorothy was united in marriage with Gene Dales at St. Francis Church in Maple River. Their marriage was blessed with one son. They farmed until 1957 when Gene started his long distance trucking. Dorothy kept books for the trucking business and did custom sewing and made party mints and favors. She also worked at Garst and Thomas Seed Corn Company. In 1975 Gene and Harvey started Manning Equipment Repair; Dorothy kept books for them until 1992. Then she became the assistant bookkeeper at Terrace and Elm Crest Apartments. Her husband died in 1995 and she continued working for ten more years. On January 17, 2004, Dorothy was united in marriage with Raymond Huegerich at Wall Lake. They made their home in Lake View before moving to Breda in 2008. After many years in Sacred Heart Parish in Manning, Dorothy became a member of St. Bernard's Parish in Breda. She was a member of the Altar Society in both parishes. Dorothy was a founding and long time member of the Tri County Social Club. Dorothy died suddenly and unexpectedly early Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Manning Hospital at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 25 days. Preceding her in death are her parents; first husband Gene Dales; brother Ray Reiling; sister Rosie Huegerich; and brother-in-law Roy Moore. She is survived by husband Raymond Huegerich of Breda; son Harvey Dales and wife Kathy of Manning; two grandsons Gary Dales and wife Amy stationed in Vilseck, Germany and Michael Dales and wife Rachel of Story City; five grandchildren Samantha and William Dales and Emma, Logan and Addison Dales; Ray's children Joan and John Tarbox, Donna and Mike Wright, Mark Huegerich, Bill and Kim Huegerich, Janet and Erik Potter and Debra and Jason Clausen; Ray's 16 grandchildren; two sisters Darlene Moore of Storm Lake and Agnes and husband Ray Pottebaum of Anita; one brother Donald Reiling and wife Rose Marie of Storm Lake; sisters-in-law Bernie Reiling of Coon Rapids and Nancy and husband Kenny Baum of Sardinia, OH; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
