Donna M. Schettler

Donna Marie, daughter of Eugene and Clara (Stork) Schettler was born on November 9, 1931 at Carroll, Iowa. She attended grade school in Breda and Mt. Carmel then received her B.S. degree in education from Viterbo College with the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. Donna taught school in Wisconsin from 1954 to 1959 and in Omaha and Council Bluffs from 1960 to 1965. In 1965 she returned to Carroll where she worked at Carroll Laundry until 1977. Donna then worked as a nurse's aid at St. Anthony Nursing Home until her retirement in 1997. Donna was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Spirit Guild, Legion of Mary and Catholic Daughters of America. She was a former Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion as well as a member of the Holy Spirit Adult Choir and Funeral Choir. Donna was an Oblate of St. Benedict affiliated with Mount Michael Abbey in Elkhorn, Nebraska and in 1992 she received a certificate for participating in the Six Core Theology Courses of the Church Ministries Program. In February 2005, she became a resident of St. Anthony Nursing Home. On August 4, 2010 Donna was taken to St. Anthony Hospital where she died on August 5th at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 27 days. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law Lawrence Frischmeyer and Robert Reynolds; niece Diane Frischmeyer Ross and a nephew Jamie Danzer. She is survived by her siblings: Irma Frischmeyer of Ft. Dodge; Irene Reynolds of Omaha, NE; Edwin Schettler of Emmetsburg; Joan Danzer and Ed of Carroll; Ruth Mescher and Paul of Manning; Elmer Schettler and Ann of Pagosa Springs, CO and Melvin Schettler and Barb of West Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.
