Dennis Ohm Ramsey, son of Edward H. and Dolores (Ohm) Ramsey, was born December 27, 1937, at home in Manilla, Iowa. During his younger years, he grew up in Manilla. While in elementary school, his family moved to Manning and he graduated from Manning High School in 1956.
On October 3, 1957, Dennis was united in marriage with Joan Kloewer at the Sacred Heart Rectory in Manilla. Ten children were born to this couple. Dennis and Joan lived all their married life in the Manning area, with the exception of one year on a farm near Jefferson. Dennis farmed for Ivan and Bill Opperman until 1981. He then worked for AGP at Manning until his retirement in 2003.
Dennis was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Knights of Columbus. Throughout the years, he enjoyed golfing, playing cards, tennis and fast-pitch softball. Dennis cherished the time spent attending sporting events for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On Monday, April 26, 2021, Dennis passed away at Thomas Rest Haven Nursing Home in Coon Rapids, after being diagnosed with cancer in 2020. He was 83 years, 3 months and 30 days of age.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brother Leonard (Marlene) Ramsey; nephew Jon E. Ramsey; Joan's parents Vince and Ruby Kloewer; brothers-in-law Edward Kloewer and Dave Disburg; and sister-in-law Leona Gibbons.
Dennis is survived by his wife Joan Ramsey of Manning; ten children: Lori (Jon) Esdohr of Coon Rapids; Cherrie (Jim) Mohr of Coon Rapids; Christine (Roger) Wiese of Manning; David (Carol) Ramsey of Templeton; Richard (Jeri) Ramsey of Carroll; Daniel Ramsey and fiancée Kacee Kuhns of Manning; Ronald (Kayla) Ramsey of Edgewood; Vicki Ramsey of Carroll; Eric (Jodi) Ramsey of Manning; and Michelle (Jalen) Spack of Guthrie Center; 39 Grandchildren: Jamie, Jeanna, Jennifer, Jessica, Jill, Jacob, Garrett, Grant, Jessica, Ryan, Christopher, Justin, Adam, Megan, Aaron, Amber, Michelle, Michael, Molly, Brooke, Haley, Nicole, Kyle, Kurtis, Natalie, Nathan, Brittany, Brandon, Abby, Bailey, Taylor, Brian, Luke, Nolan, Eryn, Ben, Rachel, Quenton and Alex; 46 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; 5 brothers-in-law: James (Norma) Kloewer of Lawson, MO; Leo (Gayle) Kloewer of York, NE; Willie Kloewer of Carroll; Mike (Vicki) Kloewer of Albany, OR; Phil Gibbons of Waterloo; 4 sisters-in-law: Sheryl Kloewer of Albany, OR; Betty (Merlin) Reinart of Carroll; May (Ron) Franks of Essex; Linda Disburg of Danville; other relatives and friends.
