Henry Delton Bud?, son of Henry Dietrich and Louella Elizabeth (Churchill) Schulze, was born November 5, 1921, at home in Union Township, north of Coon Rapids, Iowa.  He attended the Heald country school and then Coon Rapids High School, graduating in 1939. While attending school, Bud also worked on the family farm.  He continued this work after graduation, often farming over the years with his brother Harry.

Bud was drafted into the United States Army Corps in 1942.  He served during World War II in Burma, India and the China theater before his honorable discharge in 1946.  He started to farm the home place once again upon his return.  On February 14, 1951, Bud was united in marriage with Ramona Mae McGee at Jefferson, Iowa. The couple made their home northwest of Coon Rapids and years later 5 miles north of Coon Rapids. Bud enjoyed farrowing and raising feeder pigs in addition to other livestock and row crops.

Bud and Ramona liked to travel all over the country and visit with their children and grandchildren.  Bud was a fan of TV westerns from the 1960s (especially Gunsmoke and Bonanza), and war and western movies from the 1940s, 50s and 60s. He was a lifetime member of the Pleasant Ridge Community Church south of Glidden.

Earlier this year Bud was diagnosed with cancer.  He was able to remain at home with the help of his son, Larry, who moved home in 2005 to care for his parents.  After a short stay at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, Bud died there on January 1, 2008, at the age of 86 years, 1 months, and 27 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ramona Schulze; grandson Christopher Schulze in 1987; brothers Harry Schulze and Don Schulze and wife Velma; sisters Frances and husband Eldred Reever and Evelyn and husband Roy Hartwigsen; sister-in-law Waneta Bucklin.

Bud is survived by sons Larry Schulze of Coon Rapids and Randy Schulze and wife Colleen of Scranton; grandchildren: Travis Schulze and wife Heather and Ryan Schulze, all of Bossier City, LA; Michael Schulze and Jessica Schulze, both of Glidden; great-grandson Noah Schulze; sister Dorothy Schulze of Coon Rapids; sisters-in-law Louetta and husband Leo Panske of Cadwell, GA and Delores and husband Darrell Alderman of Independence, MO; brothers-in-law Roland McGee and wife Janie of Aquilla, TX and Delbert McGee and wife Janice of Mercer, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
