    Della Mae, daughter of Claus and Emma (Miller) Rohde, was born October 17, 1929, in Manning, Iowa. When she was 7, her father (who immigrated from Germany) passed away. Her mother and her then moved to Manilla where she graduated from high school in 1948. Della then attended Iowa Beauty School in Des Moines.

   On September 20, 1950, Della was united in marriage with the love of her life, Roger Lewis Georgius at the Methodist parsonage in Manilla. Together they had one daughter while making their home in Manilla. Della operated her beauty shop in Manilla for 25 years. She then worked in the dietary department at the Manilla Manor for 20 years.

   Della was an active member of the United Church of Manilla. She was an accomplished basketball player in high school and bowler as an adult. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, doing crafts, was a wonderful cook and avid Cubs fan. In her retirement, Della enjoyed trips to Minnesota and her grandson’s many activities. She was a kind, gentle lady who will be missed by many.

   On Monday, June 8, 2020, Della passed away peacefully at the Manilla Manor in Manilla, Iowa. She was 90 years, 7 months and 22 days of age.

   Della is survived by her husband of 69 years, Roger Georgius of Manilla; a daughter Gail Chalberg and husband David of Zumbrota, Minnesota; grandson Jonathan Chalberg; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson Nathan Chalberg; a sister LaVanna (Ray) Opperman; and another sister and two brothers in infancy.  Condolences may be left for Della’s family at ohdefuneralhome.com
