Gurney Parker Post 357 David H Cade, son of Harold and Frances Cade, was born December 10, 1940 in Winterset, Iowa. He graduated from DeSoto High School in 1959. David served two years in the United States Navy and two years in the Navy Reserve. He was fortunate to serve with his best friend David Winchester. He received his honorable discharge on August 29, 1961. In 1969 he moved his family to Richardson, Texas. While raising his family, he attended night school at the University of Texas at Arlington. During this time he began his career with Gaynor & Sirmen and received his Professional Engineers license in 1981. David worked on many monumental projects throughout the United States and Kuwait. He was involved in numerous projects with the University of Texas, both in Austin and Dallas. David was also involved with projects at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and Hermann Hospital in Houston. Dave and his Gaynor & Sirmen partners formed G and S Consulting Engineers in 1998. After retiring in 2004, he enjoyed boating, fishing and camping. David died on November 10, 2008, at Richardson, Texas, after a long illness. Private family services were held in Texas shortly after his death. Preceding David in death are his parents Harold and Frances Cade of DeSoto and parents-in-law Wilbur and Pauline Herron. He is survived by Janice Cade of Plano, TX; three children: Darci Pearson of Parker, CO; Kelly and husband Scott Geffert of Allen, TX and Chad Cade and fianc Geri Kwon of McKinney, TX; four grandchildren Katie and Adam Pearson and Jacob and Emily Geffert; brother LeRoy Cade and wife Donna; nephews Mike and Matt Cade and niece Catherine Cade all of Rogers, AR; other relatives and friends.
