Dan "Danny" Funderberg

Danny Funderberg, age 61, of Elk Horn, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Dan Loyd Funderberg Jr., son of Dan Sr. and Patricia (Unland) Funderberg, was born February 28, 1961, in McAllen, Texas. He grew up in McAllen and also lived in Corpus Christi and Houston where he worked as a supervisor at a hardware store.

On June 7, 1997, Danny was united in marriage with Karen Nelson in Katy, Texas. In 2009, the couple moved to Elk Horn, Iowa, Karen's hometown. They both worked as inventory specialists at Variety Distributors in Harlan.

Danny enjoyed being outside, working in his yard and in the garden. He was a loving father and son and cherished spending time with his family.
On Monday, November 28, 2022, Danny passed away at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 61 years and 9 months.

Danny is survived by his wife Karen Funderberg of Elk Horn; his parents Dan and Patricia Funderberg of Cypress, Texas; a sister Margaret (Jeff) McMahon of Bellaire, Texas; three children: Jeremy Funderberg of Spring Branch, Texas; Shawn (Lindsey) Pottebaum of Carroll; and Chelsie (Brian) Ginn of Hockley, Texas; seven grandchildren: Gavin, Ethan, Madilyn, Carli, Maverick, Amie and Matthew; Karen's parents Lyle and Dorothy Nelson of Elk Horn; a sister-in-law Marcia (Skip) VanderVegte of Hockley, Texas; two brothers-in-law Greg (Donna)Nelson of Harlan and Gale Nelson and special friend Laurie Kroger of Canton, South Dakota; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son Joshua Funderberg.
