Dale, son of Chris and Anna Pauline (Nielsen) Frederiksen, was born November 27, 1929, in rural Cass County, Iowa. He and his twin brother were baptized immediately following their birth. Dale's family lived near Exira and then Kimballton, and he attended rural schools. Dale and twin Darrell took a year off from high school to work on the family farm. They returned and graduated from Audubon High School in 1949. Dale studied farm operations at Iowa State College and then worked for a brick layer. On August 26, 1951, Dale was united in marriage with Betty Christensen at Bethany Lutheran Church near Kimballton. He was drafted into the United States Marine Corps in 1952. Dale's service took them to San Diego, CA; Jacksonville, FL; and Memphis, TN. He served as an instructor in aircraft mechanics and was honorably discharged in 1954. They then moved back to the Kimballton area to begin farming. Dale retired in 1989 due to health concerns, and he and Betty moved to Elk Horn. Dale was a member and active on the church council at Bethany Lutheran Church. He was also a lifetime member of the AmVets Post #51. Dale enjoyed his family and grandchildren, especially on annual fishing trips to Minnesota through the years. Their trip to Denmark to meet his extended family was a highlight for Dale and Betty. The couple also enjoyed many years of fun with their card club. As Dale's health worsened he was able to stay at home with the loving care of his wife. He entered Myrtue Medical Center in February and then moved to the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn. The hospice staff ministered to his body, his spirit and his family in the days before his death on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Dale was 83 years, 3 months and 7 days of age. Preceding him in death are his parents; brother Arne Frederiksen and an infant brothery. Dale is survived by his wife of 61 years Betty Frederiksen of Elk Horn; daughters Susan Thompson (David) of Ft. Dodge and Sandra Schnebel (Gary) of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren: Nathan Thompson, Katelyn Thompson, Andrew Schnebel and Jeffrey Schnebel; sister Ella Mohr (Gerald) of Omaha; twin brother Darrell Frederiksen (Lenore) of Elk Horn; sister-in-law Darlene Frederiksen of Lakewood, CO; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
