Clifford Justice

October 22, 1924 — June 24, 2015

Clifford Charles, son of Ralph W. and Alta (Chamberlain) Justice was born October 22, 1924, near Manilla in Crawford County, Iowa. He attended rural school near his home and then graduated from Manilla High School in 1943. In March of 1944, Clifford entered the United States Army. He served his country until December of 1946 when he was honorably discharged at Ft. Sheridan in Chicago, IL. He returned to the Manilla area. On May 23, 1948, Clifford was united in marriage with Frances L. Scott at the United Methodist Church in Defiance. The family farmed in the Manilla area for a number of years and then moved southeast of Irwin in the spring of 1957. Clifford farmed crops and raised cattle and ostriches. He retired from active farming in 1989, but continued to keep busy by doing yard work and caring for a few livestock animals. In his spare time Clifford enjoyed watching sports and traveling. Clifford was a member of the American Legion Post in Irwin. He was also a member of Cattle, Hog, and Ostrich Associations. In 2009, Clifford moved to the Elm Crest Nursing Home in Harlan, IA. On Tuesday, June 24, 2015, he died there at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 2 days. Preceding him in death are his parents; children Jane Justice and James "Jim" W. Justice; grandson James "Jack" Stuart Justice, brothers Kenneth, Earl, George, Harold, Amos, and Russell Justice. Clifford is survived by his wife Frances Justice of Irwin; son John (Marcy) Justice of Bradenton, FL; grandsons John Charles Justice and Douglas Richard Justice; brother Howard (Norma) Justice of Ankeny, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
