Clarence Harryman

July 19, 1941 — November 11, 2009

Clarence Lavern "Vern", son of Dayton Lee and Dorothy Ruth (McKee) Harryman, was born July 19, 1941 at Creston, Iowa. At the age of three years he moved with his family to California where he attended school, completing one year of college. Vern enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he settled in California where he worked as a landscaper, worked in construction and as a mechanic in his own service station. Vern was united in marriage with Cynthia Anne "Cyndy" Hansen at Santa Ana, CA on November 18, 1960. The family moved to Iowa in 1972 and Vern worked in construction. In 1983, after all of their children were grown and living on their own, the couple moved to Tennessee. While in Tennessee, Vern worked in boat restoration. Vern retired and he and Cyndy moved back to Iowa to be near their grandchildren in 1999. Cyndy battled cancer for a number of years before her death on January 30, 2009. Vern remained in Manning and deeply missed his wife. Vern thoroughly enjoyed the game of golf after being introduced to the sport by his son. He also enjoyed working with wood and stained glass and fishing in his spare time. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Manning.
