Catherine Vogl

April 13, 1916 — July 3, 2010

Catherine Ann, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Bellinghausen) Riesberg, was born April 13, 1916 at Templeton, Iowa. She attended Country School in rural Templeton. Catherine was united in marriage with George Vogl on January 17, 1939 at Sacred Heart Church, Templeton. They resided on a farm south of Halbur prior to retiring in 1970 and moving to Halbur. She was a member of St. Augustine's Church & Ladies Guild. Catherine was a hard working farm lady who kept her house spotless, canning everything from her garden to fill her cellar during the winter months. She loved visiting with family and friends around the kitchen table, playing cards, quilting, flower gardening and feeding the birds. On December 31, 2005, Catherine became a resident of the St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. She died there on July 3, 2010 at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 8 days. She is survived by children: Jerry (Judy) Vogl of Waterloo; Kenny (Shirley) Vogl of Carroll; Harry Vogl of Halbur (friend Bobbie Miller); Arlene Potthoff of Urbandale; Grace "Traci" (Arlo) Klocke of Granger; son-in-law Merlin "Butch" Hugeback of Carroll; 23 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; two brothers: Joe (Karen) Riesberg of Atlantic and Leon (Marlene) Riesberg of Arizona; three sisters: Flora Sibbel of Carroll; Marjorie (John) Sibbel of Manning; and Bernice Schroeder of Oto; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Riesberg, Leona Riesberg and Dorothy Riesberg; and many other relatives. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband George in 1977; daughters Darlene Heithoff in 1989 and Jan Hugeback in 2007; grandson Ted Vogl in 2009; brothers: Leonard, Irvin, Lavern and Earl Riesberg; and sister Dorothy Halbur.
