   Carolyn Charlotte, daughter of Roy and Laura J. (Coffman) Buckley, was born August 1, 1919, in Coon Rapids, Iowa. She grew up on the Buckley? family farm south of Coon Rapids.  Carolyn attended country school at Orange #2 and attended Coon Rapids High School, where she was active in the band, glee club and sextets, graduating in May 1937.

   Carolyn then worked at the Armour Creamery until 1941 when she moved to Mount Morris, Illinois and worked for a magazine distribution company. She returned to Coon Rapids in 1943 for a short time before moving to Waterloo, Iowa to work as an office clerk for John Deere Tractor Company.

   On June 25, 1947, Carolyn was united in marriage with Robert Meade Perkins at the First Christian Church in Coon Rapids. Carolyn and Bob made their home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1947, returned to Coon Rapids in 1950 and relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 1955. Carolyn worked at the Pure Oil Company while Bob attended school.  In 1957 they moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where Bob made a career in Electronics Engineering. Carolyn and Bob adopted son Bruce in October of 1958. Carolyn worked as a substitute Teachers Aide and did laundry work for 10 years at the Golden Years Nursing Home. She was an active member of the Cedar Creek Church of Christ in Fort Wayne for 27 years. Her husband died on February 20, 2000 and Carolyn returned to Coon Rapids the next year. Throughout the years, Carolyns warm smile was always a hallmark of her loving personality.

   Carolyn was an active member of the First Christian Church in Coon Rapids. Carolyn enjoyed music, especially singing solos and with the church choir, embroidery, and traveling when she was able, especially returning to Coon Rapids.

   In May of 2004, Carolyn moved into the Thomas Rest Haven Nursing Home in Coon Rapids.  She died there on Friday, November 7, 2008, at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 6 days.

   Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Arnold Buckley and wife Doris; sister-in-law Marilyn Buckley and nephew Nicholas Buckley.

   She is survived by a son Bruce Perkins and wife Gabriele of El Paso, Texas; five grandchildren; Megan Greene and Damien Perkins of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Dave, Sheila, and Dan Perkins, all of El Paso, Texas; three great-grandchildren; brother Paul Buckley of Okoboji; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many caring friends.
