Caroline Clair, daughter of Orvil and Helen (Nelson) Brumback, was born on April 12, 1931 on the family farm south of Coon Rapids in Guthrie County, Iowa. She attended country school at Orange #9 and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1948.
On Nov. 7, 1951 Caroline was united in marriage with Gerald (Arky) Vaughan at the First Christian Church in Coon Rapids. They moved to a farm in the Oak Hill area, Northwest of Coon Rapids, in early 1954. Caroline worked at the Coon Rapids Enterprise from 1951 until 1955 when their daughter was born. She kept busy helping with duties on the farm and caring for their two children Delores and Richard.
In 1968, she began working in the germination lab at the local seed corn company, working there for 42 years, retiring in 2011. She and her family moved into Coon Rapids in January of 1972.
Caroline was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed her yard, mowing and tending to all her flowers. Geraniums were her most favored. She also enjoyed sewing and her drawings which she shared with many. She cherished the time spent with her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
