Bradley Jon Georgius

Bradley Jon, son of Robert Georgius and Janice (Wilfong) Georgius Christensen, was born June 20, 1953, in Manning, Iowa. He grew up near Manilla and attended kindergarten in Aspinwall. Brad completed first through twelfth grade in Manilla, graduating with the Class of 1971. After finishing high school, he started working at Lynks Seed Company, working in the field and production as well as driving truck. On March 8, 1975, Brad was united in marriage with Lana Bornhoft at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla. They made their home in Manilla and were the parents of three sons. In 1997, Brad started working for the Manilla Municipal Utilities. He continued in that job as long as he was able. Brad was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He started as a volunteer fireman in 1975 and eventually trained in EMS. He was truly dedicated to his volunteer work. Above all, Brad was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. In October of 2009, Brad was diagnosed with lymphoma and underwent three rounds of chemotherapy. At the end of his third round of treatment at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, NE, his body did not respond. He died there on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at the age of 56 years, 6 months, and 3 days. Preceding him in death are his father and a sibling in infancy. Brad is survived by his wife Lana Georgius of Manilla; three sons: Jared Georgius and wife Kelly of Lincoln, NE; Justin Georgius and wife Becky of Neola, IA; and Jon Georgius and wife Valarie of Ankeny, IA; five grandchildren - the lights of his life - Kiya, Maddox, Drew, Ethan, and Kaibrie; mother Jan Christensen of Manilla; siblings: Kim and husband Barry Christensen of Manilla; Mike Georgius and wife Julie of Buck Grove; Steve Georgius of Powell, WY; Bob Georgius and wife Patty of Thermopolis, WY; Danny Georgius and wife Holly of North Platte, NE; Kevin Georgius and wife Cammie of Denison; step-mother Betty Georgius of Denison; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
