Betty, daughter of Joe and Hatti (Zieger) Beatty was born February 6, 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended school in Indianapolis and then started working at Lane Bryant. Later in life, Betty became a telephone operator. During the years that she was growing up, her father brought Betty and her sister Kathleen back to his home area near Coon Rapids, Iowa. They spent many summers with their aunts Christina and Ethel and even attended school in Coon Rapids at times. Betty and Kathleen cherished these times in Iowa. On November 13, 1971 Betty was united in marriage with Henry Pedersen in Indianapolis. They lived on his farm south of Coon Rapids, Iowa where they raised crops and livestock. After their farm sale, they continued to live on the farm. In 2009 when their health began to fail, they entered nursing homes. Henry died June 24, 2009 at Guthrie Center. Betty found a loving home at the Friendship Home in Audubon. She enjoyed the music therapy and had a sharp mind, quoting song lyrics and historical documents from memory. She had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed by those who cared for her. Betty's physical health got frailer as 2011 began and she died on Monday, February 28, 2011 at the age of 85 years and 22 days. Preceding Betty in death are her parents; sister Kathleen Hess; great aunts Christina Beatty, Ethel Beatty and Marjorie Teter. She is survived by her family at the Friendship Home in Audubon and other distant relatives.
