She lived with her family in Vail where she was baptized. The family moved to Templeton in December of 1969 and Betty celebrated her First Communion and confirmation at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton. Betty attended Special Education classes in Carroll County until she was 21 years old. In 1983, Betty entered Leadway near Shelby, Iowa where she lived and continued her education for ten years. She then transferred to a New Hope Home in Manning in 1993. Betty worked at New Hope Enterprises on Main Street in Manning where she took great pride in her work and enjoyed her fellow workers. She knew everyone on the streets of Manning. Betty enjoyed drawing and coloring in her spare time and especially enjoyed shopping and going out to eat. She loved the outdoors, all animals and playing with her kittens. Betty suffered an accident at home and was transferred to the hospital. She died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center-West Lakes in West Des Moines at the age of 48 years, 7 months and 21 days.However, Betty lives on through her gift of organs and tissues to benefit others in need. Preceding her in death are her grandparents Ben and Elizabeth Schwabe and Alphonse and Margaret Irlbeck, as well as her nephew John W. Behrens. She is survived by her parents Sonny and Helen Irlbeck of Templeton; siblings Dr. Nancy Irlbeck and husband Steve Musick of Wellington, CO; Mary and husband John Grundmeier of Carroll; Robert Irlbeck and wife Pam of Templeton; Lois and husband John Behrens of Roselle; Kathy and husband Donn Mosman of Raymore, MO; Duane Irlbeck and wife Angela of Templeton and Glen Irlbeck and wife Anne of Templeton; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
