Betty Lou, daughter of Frank and Mabel (Sievertsen) Ehrichs, was born September 7, 1926 at Aspinwall, Iowa. She grew up in Aspinwall where the family operated a grocery store. Betty graduated from Manning High School in 1944 and then went to business school in Omaha and Des Moines. She worked at Wright Air Field base in Dayton, Ohio for a year and half before returning to Aspinwall. In 1948, Betty was united in marriage with Alfred Henkelman. They were the parents of three children. Her husband was killed in an automobile accident in 1954. She continued to live in Aspinwall and raise her three children. On April 3, 1959, she was united in marriage with Milton Sinow who had a trucking business while she worked at her family grocery store. They moved into his parents' home in Aspinwall in 1977. In 1980 they purchased a tavern and café that they operated for nine years and then went back to farming part time. Upon their retirement, they continued living in their farm home in Aspinwall until moving to Manning in 2004. Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Manning and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She and Milton enjoyed going to movies and their yearly visit to the Iowa State Fair. When their health began to fail, they moved to the Manning Plaza Nursing Home in Manning in 2007. While there they both enjoyed watching television and celebrating residents' birthdays. Milton died March 6, 2013 and Betty continued to live at the Manning Plaza until her death on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 14 days. Betty is preceded in death by her parents Frank Ehrichs and Mabel Ehrichs Vinke and both husbands Alfred Henkelman and Milton Sinow. Surviving are her three children Terry Henkelman of Olathe, Kansas, Cindy and husband Rex Wagener of Storm Lake and Tim Henkelman (Tina Miller) of Aspinwall; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister Donna Belle and husband Howard Christensen of Bull Shoals, AR and other relatives and friends.
