Bernice Pauline, daughter of Emmanuel Lee and Jessie Lila (Moore) Plank was born on September 18, 1923 in Rock Island County, Illinois. At the age of 12 she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She attended country school in Mercer County, Illinois. On December 18, 1940 she was united in marriage with Louis Hudson Miller in Muscatine, Iowa. They farmed for 10 years near Muscatine. In 1952 they moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Louis attended Omaha Bible Institute. It was at that time Bernice became faithfully involved in the Lord's work being a pastor's wife. She was always by her husband's side giving him support, helping with vacation school, Sunday school, being a secretary and janitor and doing whatever needed to be done as they pastored different churches in Iowa. She also helped Louis in many capacities while they were camp directors at Iowa Regular Baptist Camp at Clear Lake, Iowa. In 1983 they became associate missionaries with Continental Baptist Mission in the building ministry. Bernice again used her God-given talents helping with the building of churches in different areas. In her free time she enjoyed being a homemaker and doing hand crafts. Bernice will always be remembered for her faithfulness and love for God and her concern for her family and friends. She was a wonderful example of a Godly wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great grandmother and friend and will be missed by everyone that knew her. Bernice and Louis sold their home in Manning when they were no longer able to live alone and moved into the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. While at the Plaza they continued their example of a loving relationship. Bernice's health began to fail several months before her death there on June 10, 2013 at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 23 days. Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Mary Pauline (in infancy), grandsons John and Doug McAllister, brother Clarence Alvin Plank while serving in the military during World War II and twin sister Beatrice Jane Allen. Bernice is survived by her husband Louis Miller of Manning, daughters Marylin Jean Fowler of Gering, NE, and Peggy Joan and her husband Jim Apperson of Bella Vista, AR, 6 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
